ARCHETYPE
Drawing and photography manifest themselves as complementary realities in the work “Archetype” (2022), both media visualising a plant archetype; in Goethe’s sense, the “supersensory archetype of the plant” is an original and invisible form that guides the transformation and development of all forms of plant life that we observe. Thus, the plant develops from a fundamental form and reflects nature’s sentient capacity.
The work shows nature’s need to propel itself, evolve and originate from itself. In this way, matter is self-organising and self-transforming, as Giordano Bruno says: matter is intelligent and intelligence is material. The fundamental elements of the world, whether atoms or quanta, are essentially experiential events, moments of experience. The idea of patterns or archetypes underlying the deepest levels tells us that matter and consciousness are not separate substances, but contemporary, complementary realities.
