White poplar catkins
110 x 91 cm

Elysium Planitia, 2:52 p.m. EST (2019) is a concave vegetable relief that is the result of gathering poplar catkins produced in the exhibition space. The ephemeral seeds with a markedly filament–like texture or that is like animal fur are arranged in circles and contain an inner void. The title comes from the time and place in which the InSight vessel landed on Mars sending back the first picture that was taken while it created circles of catkins (see the exhibition catalogue).
