As a member of the Gallery Climate Coalition, ART 1307 presents an exhibition by two international artists dedicated to the environment and its protection. In the exhibition ‘Geometries organiche’, curated by Cynthia Penna, artist Pilar Soberón engages in a double dialogue: one with nature, inherent in all her artistic production, and another with Hadid’s architecture and her exhibition space at the Napoli-Afragola high-speed train station. The exhibition is part of the ‘Travelling with Zaha’ project, conceived by architect Antonella Iovino and developed by the ART 1307 Cultural Institution, and includes site-specific pieces. This train station is an architectural masterpiece by Zaha Hadid Architects, characterised by its sinuous, organic forms, and acting as a key futuristic bridge in southern Italy.

The ‘Haritz’ project, presented by artist Pilar Soberón, is the result of an artistic residency organised by ART 1307 and subsidised by Etxepare Euskal Institutua. It brings together the works ‘Haritz / Essential Forest’ (2022), “Arketipo” (2022) and ‘Oxi’ (2019-22). Created with elements and structures of foliage origin, these works extol one of the largest living organisms in existence – the Forest – and remind us of the importance of its biodiversity and the essential nature of the forest: power, growth and freedom. Thus, ‘Bosque esencial’ (2022) was awarded at the 23rd EAC Contemporary Art Encounter, University of Alicante Museum and Gil-Albert Institute in Alicante.

Emphasising the fragile state of nature, ‘Arketipo’ (2022) marks a path that runs through everything, a backbone for life: nature, without which we perish. Similarly, in ‘Oxi’ (2019-22), a microorganism of large proportions – reminiscent of a worm, snake or bacterium – takes on the dimensions of a stellar navigation chart. The piece takes on the dimension of a stellar navigation chart – in its original version at the Menchu Gal Museum, the amethyst minerals embedded in the work act as stars.

The fusion of technology, architecture and nature impregnates the entire exhibition with fluid lines that circulate, trace and intersect. The perfect balance between humanity and nature is the only possible means of survival. Therefore, the purpose of this magnificent photographic exhibition is to highlight the urgency of acting in defence of sustainability and the protection of nature.
